Ralph Magazine
Ralph Magazine Issue 01
The best-printed publications I have done have always been created with the editor Josh Jones, but we had never made a magazine together until now.
A charming man named Chris, who owns the creative agency Ralph (named after Ralph Wiggum), told Josh he was thinking about publishing a pop culture magazine. He had the strapline "pop culture for the fun of it" as they both thought magazines today were a bit too serious.
Josh, of course, asked if I wanted to be the Art Director, and I said yes. Bringing my design, illustration, typography, and creative direction skills to the magazine, we created a brilliantly fun, foolish, and interesting magazine in a record two and a bit months. It’s packed with great writing, brilliant photography and illustration, weird comics, a fashion shoot at Mumbai Comic Con, stand-up comedy, the iconic Max Halley on food, Olivia Tiedemann’s favourite NYC pizza places, a comic called Batman & Rodin, things that might be made up, reviews of random Instagram accounts, Flavor Flav, Mia Khalifa, Ahilya Bamroo, and Nobel Prize winner Jon Fosse telling us the weather, and loads more. With the wonderful Burn Gorman on the cover in his first-ever profile interview, Ralph Magazine is a nod to the fun chaos of 90s magazines but done for today. Available in all good magazine stores and some okay ones around the world. Oh and it’s printed on shiny, shiny gloss.
